Explore How To Make Your Weekend In Colombo More Exciting!

Make your way to the beach.

At Mount Lavinia Beach, you may cool yourself beneath the shade of a beach umbrella during the scorching morning heat, or you can take a refreshing swim in the water. This is a great place to meet up with friends, fly kites, or just relax with a refreshing drink in hand when it comes to the weekends. Aside from being a beautiful environment, the beach is also one of the best spots to visit in Colombo for couples. When the sun goes down, the clubs and restaurants that line the beachfront come to life with music, and here is also where several EDM parties are hosted each year. Keep an eye on social media to determine when and where the event will take place.

Relax at Barefoot (or any other café, for that matter!)

The city’s cafe culture has exploded in recent years, and there is no lack of places to visit that serve you a fantastic cup of coffee and give some very entertaining entertainment. The Barefoot Cafe offers a variety of activities, including a weekly quiz night on Wednesdays and lives jazz concerts on Sundays at midday.

The work of an emerging artist may even be available for seeing in person at the gallery if the gallery is hosting a reception for them. Aura Cafe and other cafes such as Barista and Bakes by Bella host open mic nights at least once a month; check their Facebook sites for dates and timings since these are not regular performances. If you’re a poetry enthusiast, join other poets on the first Sunday of every month from 2 pm onwards at Hansa café for Poetry Pilau – you may either recite your work or sit back and listen to other poets read their work. Weekend activities in Colombo are becoming more diverse due to establishments like these.

Take a stroll around the streets of Pettah.

It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of places to visit in Colombo, but wandering through the alleys of Pettah can be very enjoyable. Pettah is a cacophony of sounds, colours, and fragrances. From endless rows of stores to booths packed with vibrant purses and sarees to open marketplaces where you can purchase designer knockoffs at discount rates, Pettah is a sensory overload. People stand by and watch as they go about their business of buying and selling everything and everything under the sun. When the craziness around you becomes too much to bear, go to one of the many Bombay Sweet houses for scorching hot beef samosas and a tall ice faluda before heading back out into the world.

Take a weekend break from work.

In the mood to travel? Take a weekend trip away from the city and see what you can discover. Many fantastic tourist spots are available in Sri Lanka, ranging from inexpensive villas along the golden beaches of Bentota and Hikkaduwa on the southern coast to modest bungalows nestled among lush green hillsides in the hill country towns of Hatton and Nuwara Eliya in the northern highlands.
